The Challenge

As a society, we are rapidly evolving without a sign that we ever cease to exist. As it might be the case for a society, it’s far from it at the personal level. Evening takeaways, Netflix and chill are becoming the normality of western population. Your free time after a long day’s work is being wasted on trash television or PC games until late at night… This trend is worryingly growing through the younger and older generation. As more of us starting to crave these mindless puppet shows, someone on the other end is making huge profits and investing it to keep us even more addicted. This act serves neither good for you or for society and it’s absolutely pointless to get involved in it.

Why not find something new, something exciting and creative so your mind and body could grow in a positive way instead of degrading on a sofa behind a TV? Have you ever wanted to learn a new thing or were you always interested in certain things, but never had time to pursue your passion? Yes, most of us just want to switch off the mind after a long day’s work and think or do nothing , you feel drained to even consider anything else, but that is a problem in it’s own. It’s a closed cycle from which it is very hard to escape. We have creative and curious minds, there is absolutely no need to switch it off and hope, that another day will be better than this one.

Start with a small step.

Set yourself an easy challenge – every time you find a bit of time to watch some nonsense on social media, Netflix or TV, take that time and spend it on the things you feel passionate about. It does not necessarily have to be something complicated like rocket science, but even a 5k jog would be a perfect start.

This is what brings me to writing… I always wanted to do this, but never had the time for it. Apparently the time was not the issue… The lack of motivation to break the useless habits and a mind set to change was lacking. Doing nothing seemed to be a much easier and more comfortable option, nothing is ever perfect so why even try… The hardest thing is to start something, that very first step where you realise that what you are creating or doing should not be perfect, that’s not the purpose, the trying and the willing to try is a key – you broke through your old patterns and you are free to modify it in any way you please until it becomes a habit as well, but a pleasant one.

Just imagine if all of us would switch off our attention from fake celebrities and trash shows and turn our minds to create something that we feel passionate about, we would flourish with happiness and that feeling of achievement would never leave us again.

So why not set a new easy challenge for yourself?
